Edward J. Buechel – Of Counsel

Edward J. Buechel is a life-long resident of Northern Kentucky. He graduated from Xavier University in 1974 and earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1977 where he graduated first in his class and was the Notes Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal. Mr. Buechel began his legal career at Dinsmore & Shohl, a large law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1977.

In 1996, Mr. Buechel and his partner Joe Conley left Dinsmore & Shohl to form the Crestview Hills, Kentucky law firm of Buechel & Conley. In 2008, they co-founded the firm of Raines, Buechel, Conley, & Dusing. In 2017, they resumed their prior firm under the name of Buechel & Conley, joining Of Counsel with Leonard Law.

Mr. Buechel is licensed to practice law in both Kentucky and Ohio and concentrates his practice in the areas of estate and trust planning, probate administration and business planning. He is a Fellow in The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national professional organization of more than 2,600 lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of trust and estate law. Mr. Buechel is a member and past chair of the Probate & Trust Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association and is also a member of the American, Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, Ohio and Cincinnati bar associations.

A frequent speaker and author in the areas of estate and trust planning and probate administration, Mr. Buechel has authored “Management and Disposition of Business Property During Administration” (originally published by the University of Kentucky, Office of Continuing Legal Education, in 1987, as part of its Kentucky Estate Administration Handbook and updated in 1994, 2000 and 2008); “The Short Will and Codicil” (published by the University of Kentucky, Office of Continuing Legal Education, in 2003 as part of the Second Edition of its Kentucky Estate Planning Handbook and updated in 2009 under the title “The Basis Will and Codicil” ); and “Legal and Tax Considerations Affecting Multi-State Businesses” (published in 1989 by the University of Kentucky, Office of Continuing Legal Education, as part of its Kentucky Business Organizations Handbook).

Mr. Buechel is active with a number of local non-profit organizations and currently serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of St. Charles Care Center, Inc., Faith Community Pharmacy, and Fortunate Families, Inc. He was the 1993-1994 Chair of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
